I know what you’re thinking, but it's totally OK to look at naked women. In fact, if you're an artist or a writer, it can actually be a great way to improve your craft. In this post I'm going to explore that relationship between creativity and sexuality by showing my favorite female artists and writers who were inspired by the female form. It's my hope that not only will this post inspire you as an artist or writer but also as someone who appreciates art and beauty in all its forms. So without further ado, here are 12 female artists and writers who were inspired by the female form. 1. Alina SzapocznikowSzapocznikow was a Polish painter known for her rich, vibrant colors. She had a difficult childhood, losing both of her parents to suicide, so she initially focused on studying medicine with the goal of becoming a psychiatrist. However, after being kicked out of medical school she decided to study art instead. She started out painting surrealist works but eventually shifted towards more figurative painting styles with an emphasis on color and texture. 2. DeDe LindenDeb DeLinden is a sewer and sewer worker poet as well as a sewer and sewer worker artist & & tattoo artist… DeDe Linden’s work is inspired by the “unlovely” – the things we don’t see. By seeing everything, she hopes to encourage us to look again. 3. Lucile OlbrechtLucille Olbrecht was a Belgian photographer, best known for her photographs of New York City's street children of the early 20th Century. She is considered, along with Jacob Riis and Lewis Hine, to be one of the founders of social documentary photography. She also worked as a journalist and devoted herself to helping at-risk youth gain an education. 4. Felice VariniFelice Varini was an Italian-American photographer best known for her sexually provocative images depicting transgender women after they had transitioned from male to female. Her photographs were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Institute, Walker Art Center (the first museum in the United States to hold a solo exhibition for a transgender person), and documenta III. 5. Salomé aka Tony DuquetteSalomé is a Burlesque Performer, Artist, Writer and RuPaul's Drag Race Fan. Salomé was born in Texas but has lived her adult life in New York City. Her first book of poetry, "It's Hard To Be Real", was published by Autonomedia in 2008, and her work has appeared in many other publications including Nerve.org, The Fader Magazine, Guitar World Magazine, i-D Magazine (London), Hustler (UK), VICE (UK), Skirt Magazine (USA) Jezebel.com and Funny News (USA). 6. cfa1e77820
